Cutting, bench

Wed, 9 Mar 16

Bench:  135x2x5, 185x5, 205x5, 225x2, 245x1, 225x2, 205x5
Crossover Cable Flys: 20x2x10, 25x2x5, 30x2x5
Croc Rows: 40x10, 60x5, 80x5

Meh, my shoulder isn't very happy with me.  I need to keep benching because I'm losing too much, but have to keep that balance of not injuring myself.  It's stupid hard.

  1. I'm seeing a lot of fatigue and soreness in your last few posts. I think your body is trying to tell you something. Take it from me (Ol' Brokedick), it takes a hell of a lot longer to come back from injury than taking some weight off the bar and working back up. Sure, your ego takes a hit when you take some iron off the bar, but it takes an even bigger hit when the only weights you move are teeny dumbbells covered in vinyl.

Shoulder problems are a complete cluster-f*ck to deal with. I think Winston Churchill was really talking about the human shoulder when he said: "It is a riddle, wrapped in mystery, inside an enigma."

When my AC joint flared up last year, I did a lot of band work (face pulls, rotations, etc.) When I did bench, I placed a rolled up beach towel lengthwise on my chest. Tread lightly, my friend.

Congratulations on the weight loss. Focus your energy on the weight you're taking off your body and not the weight you're taking off the bar. Best of luck.

    1. Thanks Fred. I've been taking it easy - healing isn't as fast when a) you're old (athletically speaking) and b) you're dieting. I'm going to go light today and then see if I can squat Monday. On the bright side, I think I'm on course to be down to 200 by my 50th birthday. (Apr 29). (24 more lbs)
